There is a saying in Japan that "a product that cannot be sold cannot be an industrial design", and the United States believes that industrial design is one of the most important parts of the profit growth of enterprises, and Scandinavia holds the view that industrial design has become a part of people's culture. Compared with other countries and regions, China paid little attention to industrial design before. Until 1978, in the period of reform and opening up, China's industry ushered in a new opportunity for development, and Shenzhen became an important window for the world to know more about China. Over 70 years, China has realized a historic transformation from a poor agricultural country to the world's first industrial manufacturing power with the efforts of generations of pioneers. Many people in the design industry from all over the world gathered in Shenzhen, the "City of Design", on World Industrial Design Day. They took this as a great opportunity for exchange and cooperation between China and the international design community, continuously enhancing the innovation of industrial design, creating first-class design, and accelerating the construction and development of Shenzhen design.

The World Industrial Design Day 2023 Launched

The World Industrial Design Day & Global Design Leaders Summit was officially launched on June 29, 2023. The event invited experts, scholars and design leaders from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, Belgium, Finland, Japan and other countries to gather at the scene. This was the first time for the World Industrial Design Day series of activities to be held in Shenzhen, and it was an important sign that the design of Shenzhen and China integrated into the world with a more open and confident attitude in the background of the new era and the new pattern.

Shenzhen is an important window for the world to observe the great achievements of China's reform and opening up. It is also a window for demonstrating Chinese culture to the world. In 2008, Shenzhen became the first "City of Design" in China recognized by UNESCO and the 6th city of design in the world. This year marked the 15th year of Shenzhen as the "City of Design". Recalling these 15 years, we have achieved leapfrog development. And industrial design has also been empowered as a source of innovation and value. Shenzhen has become famous and facilitating international exchange.
