Fifth China (Shenzhen) International Industrial Design Festival opens Dec. 1

The 5th China (Shenzhen) International Industrial Design Festival will be held from Dec. 1-9 in Shenzhen, with Denmark as its thematically cooperative nation and Copenhagen, a city well known for its design sector, as its collaborator.

Six major activities

This industrial design festival will be held for nine days, across Shenzhen and Hong Kong. More than 40 international guest lecturers, more than 600 domestic manufacturers and design agencies, nearly 100 top brands from both China and abroad, and more than 3,000 professional designers will take part. Participants are from a variety of sectors, including IT, communications, electronics, finance, Internet technology and medicine.

In cooperation with Copenhagen, organizers of the festival will hold the 2012 China International Industrial Design Summit Forum; the 2012 Bao'an District Transformation and Upgrading Achievement Exhibition; the 2012 German IF Conceptual Design Award Works Exhibition; "Industrial Design Start from Bao'an District"--China and Foreign Countries Design and Industrial Matching Meeting and Business Pairing Meeting; the 2012 Hong Kong Business of Design Week - Shenzhen User Experience and Industrial Design Seminar; the HiUED User Experience 2012 Annual Meeting; Design and Creativity Trip-- International Design Masters Tour; the Shenzhen & Hong Kong Tri-Cities Designers' Tour; and more.

In the meantime, there will be annual work meetings held by three leading industrial design organizations: National Industrial Design Industry Innovation Association, Shenzhen Experience Design Profession Committee and Shenzhen Furniture Design Profession Commission.

Global design leaders

More than 40 top designers from Denmark, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Norway, America, Korea, and Singapore will give advice about brand innovations to Chinese companies. The visiting designers include: Ralph Wiegman, chairman of the German IF Design Award Organization Committee; David Lewis, chief designer of B&O; Mikkel B. Rasmussen, chief strategy inspector of renowned Denmark creative company ReD Associates; and Gitte Just, chief executive officer of Denmark Designers' Association. Those masters and others will work together to open up new realms for industrial designers, using their international resources to increase cooperative channels and expand the visions of domestic industries.

With the rise of the Chinese economy, Chinese designers and brands are quickly expanding their influences.

During the design festival, more than 60 Chinese designers will conduct panel discussions with international designers. The Chinese designers include: Chen Wenlong, general manager of Taiwan NOVA Design Co.; Gao Shaokang, general manger of Hong Kong Kan & Lau Design Co.; Li Quanrong, founder of Taiwan Kedo Life Design; Wang Jing, Huawei UCD and globalization director; Tang Mu, general manager of Tencent's Customer Research & User Experience Design Center; Kai Qu, director of the UC Web design center (R.E.D); Hui Xiang, chief design inspector of Coolpad Cell Phones; Li Wanqiang, founder and vice president of Xiao Mi Technology Co.; and Ye Genjun, chairman of Chang Hong Innovation Design Center.

The 5th China (Shenzhen) International Industrial Design Festival will be a great event that improves the international competitiveness of China's design industry. It will be the most influential design festival in China in 2012.
