Key advocate of Droog Design

Richard Hutten of Rotterdam is one of the most famous and influential designers in the world. He is known for his unique conceptual designs and playful designs. He is a true innovator and has become an international leader in the field and constantly pushes the boundaries of design.

Born in the Netherlands in 1967, Richard Hutten graduated from Eindhoven Academy of Design in 1991. In the same year he opened his own design studio. Together with a group of professionals, he has dedicated himself to furniture design and interior design. Many of his products have become commercially very successful design symbols, some of which have been sold over one million pieces.

 

Fun is an important feature of Richard Horton's design work. Therefore, his designs are not only beautiful, but also show optimism and fun.

He is a key advocate of Droog Design, which he has been a part of since 1993, and thus he is one of the main founders of the famous Dutch design movement. Since 2008 he has been the artistic director of Gispen, the second largest and most famous furniture brand in the Netherlands for over 100 years.

 

His clients are industry leaders, including Moooi, Muji, Offecct, Christofle, Artifort, Kvadrat, Moroso, HRH Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands.

His work is in the permanent collections of over 40 of the world's museums, making him one of  the contemporary designers whose work have been collected the most.

These include the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

His design studios have received numerous international awards such as the Red Dot Award, the LAI Interior Award and the German Design Award.
